NBC's new television drama series "The Firm," based on John Grisham's best-selling novel and executive-produced by Grisham and Lukas Reiter, is set to film in the District this week. Mayor Vincent C. Gray will visit the set today where he will meet the cast and speak with producers about filming more of the series in the District.

NBC's new television drama series "The Firm," based on John Grisham's best-selling novel and executive-produced by Grisham and Lukas Reiter, is set to film in the District this week. Mayor Vincent C. Gray will visit the set Wednesday where he will meet the cast and speak with producers about filming more of the series in the District. Mayor Gray spoke with NBC executives in Los Angeles in late July about his administration's interest in attracting more production to the District.

Josh Lucas ("The Lincoln Lawyer" and "Sweet Home Alabama") is starring as attorney Mitch McDeere (the role originated by Tom Cruise in the film) in the series, which begins filming today for the three day shoot.

Lucas, whose feature-film credits also include Ron Howard's "A Beautiful Mind," Jerry Bruckheimer's "Glory Road," and Ang Lee's "Hulk," picks up McDeere's story about a decade after the events of the novel and film. The TV series begins as the McDeere family is released from witness protection only to find that he and his family are still in danger. The series will air in 2012.
