If parking is needed, the turnaround time is 5 FULL BUSINESS DAYS. For anyone who is unsure, here are a few examples:

All production companies filming in the District are required to complete an application form AND location expenditure report. The information obtained from these forms is used to facilitate the production process, and to estimate the aggregate economic impact of film and television production in the District.. This information is NOT OPTIONAL. Failure to submit the required documents filled in appropriately will result in delays and/or denial of your application.

Permit applications are processed according to the shoot date. Within one (1)  business day after you submit a film permit request, we will officially acknowledge receipt of the application, and advise you immediately if there are any issues.

The permit application and expenditure report form must be thoroughly completed. If a field does not apply to your project, please indicate so by entering "N/A" (not applicable) or a '0' in the appropriate space. HOWEVER, WE GENERALLY NO LONGER CAN ACCEPT EXPENDITURE FORMS WITH 0 CAST/CREW - WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE, OR $0 SPENT, WHICH IS UNLIKELY - USUALLY THERE ARE AT LEAST SOME EXPENDABLES OR FOOD PURCHASES AT A MINIMUM. Please print or type legibly. Failure to provide the required contact, project, insurance, or location information will result in delays and/or denial of your application.

A film permit application may be submitted using the online form, email (film@dc.gov), or by fax (202) 727-3246.
