Associate Producer, Video Publishing (National Geographic Partners)

compensation: Negotiable

SUMMARY
Publish finished videos on National Geographic's digital video streams (especially its video site and YouTube channel) and assist with other departmental tasks as needed

TASKS
• Assist producer in planning and executing daily video publishing schedule and cadence
• Transcode and publish videos for NG's digital video streams and page embeds
• Collaborate with video producers to optimize NG videos for the web, including selection of thumbnails and other promotional elements, and QA
• Analyze YouTube and Google Analytics metrics to make data-informed programming decisions
• Attend editorial video meetings and help track video publishing schedule for National Geographic shortform digital video. This will include updating Trello (video project management tool) and other tracking documents
• Collaborate with digital team to amplify the reach of digital videos
• Regular copyright enforcement of NG content on YouTube and elsewhere
• Writing, including titles and descriptions for videos
• Promote videos and assist with programming curated spaces on YouTube and other platforms (playlists, hubs, etc.), and general platform optimization tasks
• Interpret basic video legal documentation related to publishing
• Assist with ingest of video masters for archiving and resale, and related inquiries
• Light editing (adding logos, trimming off video bumpers, etc.) in Adobe Premiere
• Assist with video platform troubleshooting, as needed

MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPES OF EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years' experience in video asset management and/or production
Familiarity with digital video landscape and trends
Web publishing and basic data experience (especially YouTube)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Basic video editing (Adobe Premiere preferred), Dropbox, Photoshop, media asset management, writing and editing copy, editorial and technical QA skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office and equivalent Google Docs products
Proven track record of successful title and thumbnail/promotional image selection
Should be organized; a good collaborator and communicator; able to prioritize; and fluent in social media

This is a full-time contract (fixed-term) position with opportunity for renewal.
